Transformation of Lanterns

Ever wonder what a Chinese lantern can be turned into?

Chinese accordion lanterns, made by paper and water colours, lit with candles.

During my childhood, i played a lot with this type of lantern. Made by transparent coloured paper and poster colours, still lit with candles.

Now, my daughter plays with this type of lantern. No longer paper-based, no longer lit with candles and furthermore it can move and sing!

I absolutely, absolutely refuse to give those plastic, noisy ones to my kids. I value my sanity more than their enjoyment. Hahahaha :) Anyway, far the past few years, my kids have shown that they are more interested in playing with the candles than they are with the lanterns.
